Espresso cup/Guinomi - Shino - Reduction Fired - B25/18

£20.00

Handmade wheel-thrown guinomi in white stoneware shino glaze with black underglaze marks.

These are one-off pieces, thrown off the hump. The reduction atmosphere of the charcoal sagger inside the kiln creates the colour from salt and iron in the glaze.

This style of Japanese saké cup is also useful for tea and shorter coffee servings.

Fired to cone 6 in a charcoal reduction firing saggar, then fired again to cone 5 in oxidation.

My maker's mark is brushed on the base in black underglaze after the foot ring has been turned by hand.
